It’s Friday! This past week has been the pits, but at least we’re at the end of it.
I’m sad to report that the Vampire Shrimp, star of the fishtank, passed away this week due to a failed molt. I am horrified to report that his corpse was eaten by baby snails within about 48 hours. They left nothing behind. Not a scrap.
He was a good shrimp, very patient with the catfish, and did a great job at filtering the water column with his fan-hands. RIP.
The late, great Vampire Shrimp has been replaced by a monstrously huge SINGAPORE FLOWER SHRIMP! [raucous applause] The SFS is currently hiding out in a plant near the filter, which is smart because there are probably tons of good morsels drifting through the water thereabouts. Like the vampire shrimp, he also feeds using filter fans, which guarantees I will spend many hours staring at him and whispering “you’re perfect”.
In this weeks open thread, I’m accepting name suggestions for the new star of the tank. Also, I think we could all use a good dose of storytelling: please tell us all about a time when you were lucky.
